Reflections on healing, functional medicine, rooted wellness, personal growth, and living in alignment.

Have you ever known exactly what you needed to do… and then done the opposite?

You knew you needed rest.

But you kept pushing.

You knew you needed to say no.

But you said yes anyway.

You knew what your heart was telling you.

But you ignored it.

If you’ve ever experienced that internal tug-of-war, you’re not alone.

I don’t believe most women have a knowledge problem.

I believe many of us have what I call an internal contradiction problem.

We Usually Already Know

One of the greatest surprises I’ve discovered through years of coaching women and practicing functional medicine is this:

Most women already know what they need.

They’re not lacking information.

They’re lacking permission to trust what they already know.

Our culture constantly encourages us to search for another book, another podcast, another expert, another strategy.

But often the quiet answer has already been whispering within us.

Your Body Has Been Speaking All Along

In functional medicine, I often tell my clients that the body whispers long before it screams.

Symptoms rarely appear overnight.

They usually begin as subtle nudges that something is out of balance.

Emotional and spiritual life works much the same way.

That quiet feeling of uneasiness…

The loss of peace…

The sense that something isn’t right…

These aren’t necessarily problems to suppress.

They’re invitations to pay attention.

Every Time We Override Ourselves, We Weaken Self-Trust

Every time we ignore our own inner knowing, we teach ourselves something.

We teach ourselves:

“My needs don’t matter.”

“My intuition can’t be trusted.”

“Someone else’s voice matters more than mine.”

Over time, we stop checking in with ourselves altogether.

Instead, we begin looking outside ourselves for permission, reassurance, and direction.

Eventually, we become disconnected from the wisdom that has been quietly present all along.

That is the cost of internal contradiction.

Alignment Begins with Honesty

Alignment isn’t about becoming someone different.

It’s about becoming more honest.

Honest about:

  • what you know
  • what you value
  • what your body is communicating
  • what God may be inviting you toward

When your inner knowing and your daily choices begin moving in the same direction, something remarkable happens.

Peace begins to replace tension.

Not because life suddenly becomes easy.

But because you’re no longer divided within yourself.

Rebuilding Self-Trust One Decision at a Time

Self-trust isn’t rebuilt through one dramatic moment.

It’s rebuilt through small, consistent acts of integrity.

Keeping one promise to yourself.

Honoring one boundary.

Listening to your body one more time.

Taking one small courageous step.

Every decision strengthens the next.

And over time, internal agreement begins replacing internal contradiction.

Questions to Reflect On

Take a few quiet moments to consider:

  • Where do I already know the answer?
  • Where am I overriding my own inner knowing?
  • What have I been avoiding?
  • Where do my beliefs and my actions no longer match?
  • Where do I consistently lose my peace?
  • What would change if I trusted myself just a little more?

Sometimes awareness alone changes everything.

Continue the Journey

You don’t have to resolve every contradiction today.

Simply begin noticing.

Because every moment of awareness is an invitation to stop overriding yourself, rebuild self-trust, and return to peace.

The journey back to alignment begins with one honest decision at a time.
